Our Philosophy

Our goal is to provide a nurturing and caring environment where children can develop socially and intellectually. We work to provide them with all the tools they need to be successful in kindergarten. We pay special attention to the different learning styles and personalities of each child and make every effort to give them the skills and support they need to reach their full potential.

Our Staff

All of our teachers are EEC Certified as well as CPR and First Aid certified. Many of our experienced Child Care staff have been at East End House for many years. Their continued professional development and work with families allows them to provide the best possible care for all the children in the program.

Our Curriculum

Language and Literacy

Teachers regularly engage children in formal and informal activities that promote language development, letter recognition and early writing skills. Teachers use daily reading time to demonstrate word pronunciation and sentence structure. In “Bringing Books to Life,” preschool children choose their favorite books and act out the stories, helping them to engage with plot and characters.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Learning

Preschoolers are introduced to STEM concepts in engaging and age appropriate ways. They learn through observing, counting, reading stories, and interacting with plants, animals, and other interesting objects in their environment.

Arts and Crafts, Active Play, and Field Trips

In addition to daily arts and crafts time, seasonal projects like personalized Thanksgiving Turkeys and Groundhog Day exhibits provide children with guided expressions of creativity. Daily active play in the East End House gym provides a productive outlet for energy. Weather permitting, children visit the outdoor backyard at East End House in the afternoons. Toddlers and preschoolers also explore their community on fun and educational field trips. Past trips have included visits to the Museum of Science, a trick-or-treating trip to Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, and visits to working farms and apple orchards.

Continuous Program Improvement

East End House is committed to making sure all our curriculum is evidence-based and that all program components are formally evaluated throughout the year. All data is entered into Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), a sophisticated consumer database that allows us to track progress towards goals and continuously incorporate feedback from our consumers. These evaluation tools enhance program quality and user satisfaction. Toddler classrooms prepare children academically and socially to thrive in preschool, and preschool classrooms give children the skills they need to be successful in Kindergarten.
