Thank you to all the community members, individuals, businesses and organizations for your tremendous generosity during the agency’s December Holiday Programs. With your continued support, East End House’s annual December Toy Drive and Adopt-a-Family Programs provided 182 families and over 500 children with toys, clothing, and basic necessities, enabling those most in need in the community to have a happy and healthy holiday season. East End House has been serving the needs of children, youth, individuals, and families in Cambridge and surrounding communities for more than 140 years. While much has changed since the agency first opened its doors, the inspiration we feel when witnessing the transformational impact East End House has on children and families in need has not.
Over the past few days, East End House has been working with a core group of families impacted by the devastating fire last weekend in East Cambridge. In addition to losing their homes, many of these families lost all of their belongings-vehicles, driver's licenses, credit cards, medications, clothing, and other essential items. We have been working to connect these families to appropriate support services and City of Cambridge relief efforts, as well as to provide them with food, toiletry items, infant supplies, winter coats, mittens, shoes, clothing, transportation, gift cards, and other basic necessities.
Recovering from the devastating effects of the fire and the resulting dislocation-both physical and emotional-will be a long journey for these families. East End House is committed to supporting them on this journey as they regain stability and find housing. Read more »
Do you have a passion for STEM? Would you like to have positive, meaningful impact on Cambridge middle school youth? East End House is now recruiting professionals, graduate students, and undergrads with experience in biotechnology, genetics, and/or biology to coach and mentor Cambridge middle school youth and enhance their STEM learning as part of the GeniConnect curriculum. GeniConnect is a National Science Foundation-funded project for afterschool students involving game-based learning. Students will navigate through Geniverse, a web-based game environment that supports students' learning of genetics.
