Seniors are important members of the East End House community. Many have been using services at the agency since they were young children. Their stories and experiences have shaped the story of East End House and East Cambridge. Today they are a vital part of the agency, volunteering at special events, like the Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Giveaway and the Summer Block Party, and participating in Sunrise Senior Activities Program and Young at Heart.
Sunrise Senior Activities Program
The Sunrise Club is a group of area seniors who meet twice a week to engage in a variety of social activities. It is open to all seniors in the community. Seniors are welcome to attend all meetings or only a few throughout the year. Sunrise Club members also volunteer within the agency, providing inter-generational contact for children in our programs, and assisting with special events. Members of the Sunrise Club enjoy:
- Activities and Games
- Guest Speakers
- Field Trips
The Sunrise Club meets every Monday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. All seniors are welcome to attend.
Young at Heart
Young at Heart is designed to promote knowledge and action around health and wellness. Health screenings and interactive presentations give seniors the knowledge needed to live healthier and more energetic lifestyles without drastic changes. A walking club, yoga and other energizing activities give seniors ways to become active and social. This program is open to senior citizens of any age who are interested in learning how to live healthy and have more energy while socializing and having fun!
